Today's game

19 Dec 2021 by Richard Mulligan

Really pleased with the team today. We were mindful that Stamford Bridge battered us a couple of months back and wanted to give a better account of ourselves in the return fixture.

We were well in the game in the first half and very unlucky with a clearly offside goal to make it 0-2 before the break. We had loads of good openings in the 2nd half and it was disappointing not to get a goal. They scored twice late on to make it 6-0 – including a penalty, which i’m still unsure as to why it was given – which was harsh on us really. But that’s the game!!

Stamford Bridge have won all their games so far and are a really good team. We need to be inspired by teams like that to keep on pushing ourselves more! We still need an extra level of intensity in closing down quickly, tackling harder and being harder to beat.

Anyway, delighted with the efforts today. James picked Arthur S as MOTM, which was a great shout as his workrate was excellent.

It’s been a good first half of the season. I think we are 3rd in the table at present, but it’s going to be very close among ourselves, Huntington, Strensall and Thorpe for those positions behind Stamford Bridge. Our players and team should aim to finish as high as possible among that group.

Obviously things are little up in the air at present, but January is scheduled to be a busy match with league games and friendlies.

++ Training resumes on January 5.

+ I hope everyone has a nice Christmas and best wishes for 2022.
